Capitalism for Good

Accelerated Opportunities LP Concentrated Growth Fund

The Fund

Accelerated Opportunities LP (“Accelerated”) launched in January 2020 to invest in a highly selective set of U.S.-based companies whose innovative products and services we expect will fundamentally change industries and generate exponential growth over time. The strategy is offered as a 506(c) vehicle. 506(c) Funds are allowed to directly market to accredited investors. The structure also provides greater transparency. The Fund typically takes long and short positions in highly liquid equities to express its thesis and will often use exchange-traded options to accelerate the performance of the highest conviction ideas in the portfolio or to protect capital.

Objectives

Seek to generate substantial multiples over a long-term horizon

LOOK TO INVEST IN DISRUPTIVE PUBLIC COMPANIES IN THE EARLY STAGES OF THEIR GROWTH

ATTEMPT TO DISRUPT THE HEDGE FUND BUSINESS MODEL BY USING THE FEE STRUCTURE TO SUPPORT CERTAIN DESIGNATED CHARITIES

Investment Philosophy

LONG-TERM INVESTMENT HORIZON

  • We look for unrecognized
    talent and prefer investing
    during early innings
  • Our investments are based
    on a compelling thesis,
    not on market timing
  • We recognize that paradigm
shifts are not linear; as patient
    capital, we expect and take
    advantage of downturns

CREATIVE DISRUPTION

  • Visionaries are focused
    on solving tomorrow’s
    challenges, thinking outside
    of the box and pushing
    conventional boundaries
  • Successful entrepreneurs are
    driven primarily by their
    mission, not personal gain
  • Founders are more likely
    to make the necessary
    sacrifices to realize their vision
    than non-founders

FIRST PRINCIPLES APPROACH

  • Deconstruct any area of
investigation to essential elements, looking for nuggets of underlying truth; combine ideas from seemingly unrelated fields
  • Hands-on use of products and
    services provides a concrete
    understanding of strengths and
    potential pitfalls
  • Real-world products and services
    require real-world testing,
    not just intellectual analysis

Firm Leadership

Emmet Peppers, Founder & Portfolio Manager

Emmet Peppers founded Good Soil Investment Management LLC (“Good Soil”) on the principle that an asset management company can benefit both its investors and society, and Good Soil is the General Partner of Accelerated. Fifty percent of both the management and performance fees accruing to Good Soil from Accelerated are distributed amongst charities selected for their mission, integrity and effectiveness.

Prior to founding Good Soil Investment Management, Emmet worked at Interactive Brokers, where he helped grow the Prime Brokerage and RIA businesses. He joined the company in 2006 in Client Services, then moved into institutional sales in 2010, becoming the firm’s #1 US sales rep by 2019 as he brought on and serviced some of the firm’s biggest institutional clients. Investing his own funds while working for Interactive Brokers, Emmet developed the investment philosophy which would become the foundation for Accelerated Opportunities. Previously, Emmet worked at UBS Investment Bank.
